How fair is this new distance fare system? I was apparently disturbed when I discovered that my fare has increased from $0.69 to $0.71 today, contributing an increase of $0.02 for every single short distance trip I travelled for. I am definitely not among the commuters who have benefited from the implementation of distance fare. It was clearly not a fair practice.
The increase of $0.02 had raised this sensitive question in mind on whether if the increase was used to compromise for the lower fares which some commuters are paying for. If not, why does the system not benefited all but only some? The transport authority should have designed a system that is fair and flawless. This structure greatly disappointed me when i was among the majority who is looking forward to a lower transportation cost; instead my monthly transport fee has increased by between $0.60 and $1.00. Some may think that this increase might be insignificant but to me, it means alot because i do not see my wages increasing while my expenses are getting heavier every day.
